Ram Mandir railway station or Oshiwara railway station is the newest railway station on the Western Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway.[2][3] The station is located in between Jogeshwari railway station and Goregaon railway station and serves the Oshiwara neighborhood of the Mumbai.[4][5][6]

History

Several completion deadlines have lapsed. The Western Railway, the BMC and state officials have been unable to coordinate action. The station was scheduled to open in 2009. However, after residents insisted that the crossing level only be closed after the road overbridge is complete, this date was missed.[7][8]

As of 2014, it was under construction. Part of the plan is to extend the harbour line beyond Andheri to Goregaon. The station was commissioned by NDA in 2002.

Post the opening of the Road over bridge in June 2016, the station was expected to be functional in 6 months. The opening of the station will pave the way for extending the Harbour line to Goregaon as oppose to currently terminating at Andheri.[9]

The Maharashtra government announced that the station would be named Ram Mandir railway station on 26 November 2016, as it is located on Ram Mandir Road which is named after a temple in the area.[10]
