Miranda Rae (born unknown) is a British radio DJ, best known for presenting The Word on Ujima Radio. Was the full-time female radio presenter on UK radio.

Early radio career

At 18 years old, when most of her age were going to University or travelling the world Miranda became Promotions and PR manager for FTP Radio in Bristol, the UK's first incremental license to be awarded.

When Miranda joined Galaxy Radio she was the UK's 1 st full time female radio presenter.

FTP Radio became Galaxy Radio. Miranda' was one of the only employees to remain from FTP and her success with Galaxy Radio was fast and furious, Miranda was not only the first full time female DJ in the country she was the first full time radio dance DJ in UK pioneering new music in the UK.

Miranda was responsible for discovering many new artists, including Roni Size, now one of the world's leading music producers and winner of The Mercury Music Prize.

Miranda was approached by BBC Radio 5 and asked to present and write for a weekly speech based programme called Euromix. Miranda took over the role as presenter from Magenta Devine (Rapido) and worked along side Robert Elms (Travel Log, Channel 4, Spandau Ballet), Johnny Vaughan, Normski, Danny Ball as well as comedians Lee Hurst, Kevin Day and Nick Wilty.

It was her work with Euromix that won her the prestigious Sony Radio Award for best youth programme.

Galaxy Radio soon recognized Miranda's national appeal and made sure she became one of Galaxy's top prime time, regional mainstream presenters, she was on air 6 days a week for years to come. Miranda established a worldwide reputation for pioneering new music and her A 'n' R work was recognized officially by many DJ's, artists and records companies.

Miranda has worked with and interviewed artists and DJ's of international fame, including Take That, East 17, Portishead, Marshall Jefferson, DJ, Todd Terry, Goldie, Neneh Cherry, Shaggy, Gill Scott Heron, Massive Attack, Smith N Mighty, Tricky, Fully Cycle, Roni Size, Omar, David Grant, Finaly Quaye, Cash Crew, Roy Ayres to name but a few..

Miranda has also played numerous private parties, endless lists of private functions, parties and weddings including some A list celebrities.

Miranda's work in radio has taken her around the world, where she has lived and worked in Europe, Asia, India and Africa.

Since the birth of Miranda's son in Jan 2007 she is happily settled in the UK.
