Kenmore State High School is a secondary education institution in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, facilitating over 1500 students from grades 8 through to 12. The school was opened in 1972 [1]

Physical Location

Kenmore State High School is situated on 11.2 hectares along Moggill Creek. [2]

Curriculum

Kenmore High offers a broad curriculum, catering to students with all kinds of academic passions and pursuits, as well as a range of Vocational Education Subjects. It annually ranks as one of the top state high schools in Queensland in terms of OP scores.

The school offers renowned Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Mathematics, Humanities, IT, Manual Arts and Home Economics facilities.

Controversy

Kenmore State High School was the centre of a drug ring in several schools, a scandal reported on in 2004 broadcast on Australian Today Tonight program.

The footage aired on national television included scenes of teenagers smoking bongs and discussing the quality of the drugs. On the uncut version of the footage now available at all good video shops also contains scenes of the post session orgy behind the sports shed.

Global and Community Citizenship

Many students, the majority of which participate in the Accelerated Learning program for students with special needs also participate annually in Clean Up Australia Day and other environmental activities.

World Class Accreditation

Kenmore State High School was officially awarded World Class Accreditation on Monday the 13th of March 2006. [3] by the Council of International Schools (Australia). [4]

The school's status as "World Class" is a fact which the principal of Kenmore is very proud of, so much so that the school's "world class" status is mentioned by the principal whenever possible
