Lucy Hannah (née Terrell;[1] July 16, 1875 – March 21, 1993) was an American supercentenarian. Hannah is the second-oldest person ever from the United States and the world's third-oldest verified person ever, after Jeanne Calment and Sarah Knauss. She was never the world's oldest living person since Jeanne Calment was born five months before Hannah and still alive at the time of Hannah's death.[2]

Before her death, Hannah claimed to be a year older, but investigation by the Social Security Administration's "Kestenbaum" study in 2003 proved that her age at death was actually 117 years, 8 months.[2]

At the time of her death in March 1993, Hannah was the oldest American ever and second oldest person ever whose age has been verified, behind only Jeanne Calment. (However, Shigechiyo Izumi was still believed to be older at the time of Hannah's death.)[1][3]
