Fatih Sonkaya

Fatih Sonkaya (July 1st, 1981, Oltu, Turkey) is a football defender for FC Porto and Turkey.

He started his career in the Netherlands at Roda JC in 1998 and in 2004 he transferred to Beşiktaş in his homeland of Turkey. But in the 2005-2006 season, he moved to Portuguese club FC Porto. He wore the number 22 in FC Porto. He stands 1,75 cm tall and weighs 73 kg. He collected a championships medal with FC Porto and the Super Cup.

Actually Sonkaya is on loan in Académica from FC Porto.

Although born in Turkey and of Turkish nationality, he spend a most of his youth in Heerlen were he, together with his older brother Oczan Sonkaya, played soccer at FC Heerlen.

On soccerwebsites he and his brother are sometimes confused, placing Oscan at Roda JC, while he was playing at MVV.
