Capri Sun (UK: /ˈkæpri/ or US: /kəˈpr/) is a brand of juice concentrate drink owned by the German Company WILD and sold in laminated foil pouches. It was introduced in 1969[1][2] and named after the Italian island of Capri.[3] Capri Sun has been distributed in the United States since 1981.[4] Kraft Foods is a licensed production partner for North America. In the Netherlands, France, the UK, Belgium and Ireland, it is distributed by Coca-Cola Enterprises. In 2014 Capri-Sun entered the ever growing Indian market through a joint venture with Hyderabad-based SDU Beverages to produce and market its fruit juices for kids. As of 2015, 5 flavors are certified kosher by OK Kosher Certification. One pouch contains about 14.5 grams of sugar (10% for the 200 ml pouch).

Distribution

The standard box is filled with 10 pouches of juice, and each pouch is 200 ml. In the U.S., Capri-Sun pouches are now 6 fluid ounces ; previously they were 8 fl. oz. (240 ml).[5] The pouch is trapezoidal in profile when filled and rectangular when flat, with a flared bottom that makes the pouch able to stand upright when placed on a horizontal surface. A straw is supplied with each individual pouch. Other sizes, such as the 330ml pouch with a re-sealable cap, are available in some countries.

In 2014, after continued pressure to fix what consumers described as worm-shaped food mold in Capri Sun pouches, Kraft released a clear bottomed pouch to allow consumers to better inspect the product before consumption.[6] Additionally, the difficult to recycle package type has spurred environmental groups to pressure Kraft into redesigning their iconic pouch.[7]
