Since The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever was released as a special album, only one week of promotions on music shows was planned to allow for the band to continue with their individual activities, performances and overseas schedules.[5] The comeback stage for the album was on M! Countdown on May 12, where they performed "Save Me", "Butterfly" and "Fire", which won first place of the week.[6] That same week they also performed on Music Bank, Music Core and Inkigayo, winning a total of three music show awards for the title song "Fire".[7][8] Fuse stated that, "Fire" is the lead single from The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever, a compilation album of the aforementioned two EPs with new tracks and remixes. The cut feels like an upgraded version of "Dope," a standout single off BTS' The Most Beautiful Moment In Life, Pt. 1 EP, with its aggressive combination of zipping synthesizers, trap percussion and group chants. "Fire" stands out for the snippets of house production and twitching electronics, while the boys deliver some of their most impressive rap sections to date, with member J-Hope particularly shining in the track's opening verse. The accompanying music video also sees the guys whipping out their most intense choreography to date. At one moment, BTS look at risk to suffer from whiplash from their quick group moves, and at other times they're serving straight-up Matrix with the impressive slo-mo choreo.[9]
Tour
On April 26, 2016, it was announced that BTS would embark on the 2016 BTS LIVE Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa On Stage: Epilogue in support of the album. The tour started in Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul on May 7 & 8, 2016,[10] and was held in another nine cities in five countries.
The music videos were produced by Lumpens. It was reported that the group had prepared 3 music videos to be released as part of their comeback.[18]Epilogue: Young Forever music video was released on April 19, 2016, picturing the members running in a maze full of fences as well as flashing back on scenes from past music videos that were part of the Youth series.[19] The second song music video, Fire, was released on May 2, 2016. The music video received 10 million views in 75 hours, hitting the 1 million mark in 6 hours.[20] It featured the members dancing and partying in an abandoned place in flames.[21] A third and final music video was confirmed for the track Save ME, which was released on May 15, 2016,[22] and showed the 7-member band dancing in an open field.
Commercial performance
The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever has been reported to have sold over 300,000 copies in pre-sales after less than a week.[23] According to the Hanteo Chart, on the first three days since its release 100,000 copies were sold ascending to 164,868 copies on the first week of May.[24][25] The album became BTS's second consecutive release to chart on Billboard 200, at number 107, becoming the second K-pop act to achieve this. It also debuted at number 2 on US World Albums and number 10 on Top Heatseekers.[26]
Variations
The album was released in two versions, one themed "Day" and the other themed "Night". The "Day" version's cover features a hot balloon, with its image also present on its corresponding disc design. The "Night" version is the same, but with images of the members camping in the dark. Both versions have 112-page photo books (each with different photos) and a Polaroid card and a mini photo card of a random member for first press editions.[27]
