Bill Schuette was born in Midland, MI and attended Georgetown University where he got a degree in Foreign Service, and San Fransisco University where he got a law degree. Bill Schuette is currently a judge on the Michigan 4th Circuit of Appeals. He was elected as a Congressman at the age of 31 in 1984, where he served until 1990. As a Republican congressman, Schuette served on the House Budget Committee, the House Agriculture Committee and Select Committee on Aging. In 1990, he left his Congressional seat which was then picked up by fellow Republican Dave Camp, in order to run, and ultimately lose to Carl Levin in the race for the Senate. In January of 1991, he was named as Director of the Department of Agriculture by fellow Republican, Governor John Engler. In 1994, he ran for and was elected to the Michigan State Senate where he served three terms until term limited.
