DYK for Operation PBFORTUNE
On 30 December 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Operation PBFORTUNE, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Operation PBFORTUNE, organized by the CIA to topple Guatemalan President Jacobo Árbenz, was terminated when the coup attempt became too widely known? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Operation PBFORTUNE. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Operation PBFORTUNE), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

- @Sulmerruhtan: I'm afraid that something being "real" is not enough for it to have an article on Wikipedia. I myself am decidedly real, but there is no article about me. You need to demonstrate that the subject of an article is notable, through the use of reliable sources. Also, please read WP:NOTINHERITED. Regards, Vanamonde (talk) 08:05, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

The IP and I talked about the stuff on the hardcore punk article and we agree on something. Statik N (talk) 20:07, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of Ivan V. Polyakov article
Hi, Vanamonde93. I've recreated the article you deleted as a draft. It's a little bit strange to me that it was deleted as I provided all answers to the person who did the initial moderation of the article and corrected the article according to his comments. Please check the draft and if you have any comments I'll be more than happy to correct the article. Also, please be informed that this article os a translation of the article in Russian segment. Best regards, Ivp.office (talk) 21:31, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
- When I came across the article, it was certainly too promotional in nature to be in mainspace. Recreating it in draft-space is fine, as long as you are using the draft to bring the piece in line with WP:NPOV, and not simply to store something that would not survive in mainspace. Slum Soccer Deletion
As you deleted the Slum Soccer Article due to in your opinion promotion, please explain me in detail, where promotional content was. I was only showing in this high quality article how Slum Soccer is working. For the reason they are doing an amazing job, the content of the article seems to be promotional. but it was only the pure working truth. Please show me where promotional content was. Constantin Masch (talk) 11:12, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- Please read the links I've posted on your page. As a good rule of thumb, though, everything you write here needs to be supported by reliable sources: when we abandon those and write just "what we know," neutrality issues crop up. Vanamonde (talk) 11:17, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
About the deleted article Archiam Centre: I disagree with the deletion reason, but agree that it should be deleted.
Hi Vanamonde93,
You deleted the article under the WP:G11 rationale.
I was looking for reliable third references for that that article, and was about to suggest a WP:AFD based on the evidence that the "Archiam Centre" was an offshoot of Nottingham Trent University's Centre for Architecture, Heritage and Global Difference project.
So: Nottingham Trent University has a project called "Centre for Architecture, Heritage and Global Difference" One of its sub-projects included The ArCHIAM Project.
All that said. maybe there could be a carefully written article about this maybe notable topic with references from impeccably reliable sources.
Your thoughts about this?
Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 11:31, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Shirt58: G11 is one of the deletion criteria that actually has very little to do with notability; all it says is that the article is so unsuitable for Wikipedia that it needs to be deleted. If a well-written article can be written about the subject, then write one by all means. Vanamonde (talk) 11:40, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
About the deleted article PriceWeber
Hi! You flagged an article for PriceWeber for speedy deletion, and it has since been taken down. I am new to posting on Wikipedia, so any policy violation was completely unintentional. Do you have any advice on how to write an article that won't be eligible for deletion in the future? I'm planning on rewriting the one that you tagged, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! LTaylor197 (talk) 15:33, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- @LTaylor197: Thanks for approaching this in the right spirit. First off, you have to check whether the subject you wish to write about is actually notable, and whether that can be demonstrated through the use of reliable sources. Beyond that, a page must comply with WP:V and WP:NPOV, which you should also read. I see that somebody has posted a welcome template on your talk page: just go through those links thoroughly, and you will be in decent shape. Regards, Vanamonde (talk) 16:40, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
