Tamworth is a small community in Stone Mills township in Lennox and Addington County, Ontario, Canada. Tamworth is located due North of Napanee, Ontario and Northeast of Belleville, Ontario, near Kingston, Ontario, and is on Beaver Lake.

Sports

Tamworth briefly had a Tier II Junior "A" team known as the Tamworth Cyclones. The team was a member of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League.

History

On February 26th 2014, local trapper Morton Lewis went on a shooting rampage killing one Tamworth resident and injuring another. Morton Lewis was later found dead in his truck. Mr. Lewis was also a Utralite Aircraft Enthusiast. He was also the Father of Two Children. [1]

Gaeltacht

Tamworth is also home to the first Irish Language-speaking area, or Gaeltacht, to be announced outside Ireland. This is an important symbol of hope for the struggling minority language. Plans for the site include cabins to house upwards of 100 people, classrooms, and a museum.
