Alliance University is a private university established in the city of Bangalore, India, set up in 2010 by Act No. 34 of the Karnataka State,[1] the university was established under the aegis of Alliance Business School.
Alliance University campus is located on the Chandapura-Anekal main road, Anekal taluk of Bangalore. Alliance University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi and approved by All India Technical Education Council (AICTE), India.
The university has had a fair share of controversies in 2016 with the Chancellor being accused of rape,[3] power struggle within the founding family leading to closure of the university and subsequent loss of academic days temporarily [4][5][6][7][8] and a report of alleged financial scam in the university. The State government was mulling the idea of taking control of the University by amending the Act under which the University was created. However, a recent verdict passed by the High Court of Karanataka has finally put to rest the power struggle wherein the court upheld that the founder Dr. Madhukar G. Angur shall continue to serve as the Hon'ble Chancellor for life, as directed in the Alliance University Act of 2010 passed by the Karnataka Legislature. [9] Revolting and non complying employees of the University have been officially terminated. The university has been functioning smoothly ever since and has also won 'Best Private University Award 2017 at the Indian Education Awards.
Launch of New Website
The University has launched a new official website www.allianceuniversity.edu.in. The work on the website is being carried out in a planned and phased manner to stem up security measures as the previous website had been hacked by miscreants. The Karanataka Cyber Crime Cell is currently investigating the issue. The University has also been continuously issuing 'Disclaimers' and 'Public Notices' to create awareness among all it's patrons and stake holders about the move to the new official Website. Some Miscreants are still using the compromised previous website with a criminal intent of cheating the students and public at large by falsely claiming them to be the websites of Alliance University. The University has been actively communicating with all the students/vendors/general public not to interact with the fake and fraudulent websites for admission or for fee payment or for any other purpose concerning the academy of Alliance University, or for that matter, any issue relating to the Alliance University. In the event the general public or anyone else interacts with the miscreants, they will be doing so at their own risk and consequences. Alliance University has stated that it shall not be held responsible for any illegalities, improprieties, illegitimacies, dishonesties, misdemeanors, etc. that the general public or anybody may be subjected to by such interactions with the fake websites. [10]
Schools and colleges
The university has six academic schools[11] - Alliance School of Business, Alliance School of Law, Alliance College of Engineering & Design and Alliance Ascent College, Department of performing arts, Planned academic units like Alliance College of Arts and the Humanities, Alliance College of Science, Alliance College of Medicine and Dentistry, Alliance College of Education and Human Services, Alliance School of Health Sciences, Alliance College of Media and Communications.
Academics
Alliance University offers programs that it was already offering before becoming a university – the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business administration, programs for working professionals, and customized programs for the armed forces. In the recent years, new programs have been introduced through the colleges affiliated to the university.
