Cura is a 3D printer slicing application.[1] It was created by David Braam; he was later employed by Ultimaker to maintain the software. Cura has been released under the open source Affero General Public License version 3.[2] Development is hosted on GitHub.[2] Cura is the preferred slicer software for Ultimaker 3d printers, but can be used with other printers as well.[3]

Printer support

Cura supports the following printers:[3]

  • All Ultimaker printers
  • 3DMaker Starter
  • BQ Hephestos 2
  • BQ Prusa i3 Hephestos, XL
  • BQ Witbox, 1 & 2
  • Innovo INVENTOR
  • Malyan M180
  • Prusa i3, XL
  • RepRap Neo
  • RigidBot, RigidBotBig

Cura can also be customised to support printers other than those listed above.[3] UK-based 3d printer manufacturer CEL uses Cura as underlying slicing core for it’s Automaker printing application.
