De-Lovely
De-Lovely is a 2004 film that chronicles the life of songwriter Cole Porter. Directed by Irwin Winkler, the film stars Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd.
The film is made up as a rehearsal of a musical telling the famous composer's life and takes place on a musical stage as well as in several locations of his life; it focuses especially on Porter's love life and his bisexuality yet controversially suggests that the real love of his life was his wife.
The title is taken from the lyrics of one of Cole Porter's songs.
Many of Porter songs are sung by more modern artists like Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Robbie Williams, and Elvis Costello (see track listing below.) Many of these performances were widely panned.
