John II Gaspard Gevartius (1593- was the jurisconsult of Antwerp and famous philologue. He was a personal friend of Peter Paul Rubens.

He was the son of John I Gevaerts, he was educated by the Jesuits, afterwards he went studing in Louvain university and doaui. Hebecame a famous advocate, and became an important functionary of Antwerpen. He wrote important works on peotry and sciences, one of his writings threats Marcus Aurelius. His reputation was known by the archduchess and Emperor Ferdinand III.[1]

He was a personal friend of Rubens, and had a portrait painted by him and de Vos with bust of Marcus Aurelius. He took care of Albert I Rubens, (1614-1657), when his father was on mission of the Archduke.[2] Correponance of Gevartius and Rubens is conservated in the Royal Library.[3] He was burried in the Cathedral of Our Lady.

He worked togheter with Rubens and van Thulden on the Pompa introitus honori Serenissimi Principis Ferdinandi Austriaci Hispaniarum Infantis ...[4].
