Jain University is a Deemed university under the UGC Act,1956 established in Bangalore, India and promoted by The JGI Group in India and the state of Karnataka. It is a member of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific and is certified ISO 9001:2008 for quality management. It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. It also has Jain International Residential School,[1] Bangalore(JIRS),a premier school at the Jain Global Campus.
History
Jain University (formerly Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College,[2] SBMJC) is declared deemed to be University under section 3 of the UGC act, 1956 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development[3] of the Union Government vide notification No.F-9-57/2007-U.3 (A) Ministry of HRD, GOI 19 December 2008 and 24 July 2009.
Jain University has established 10 Centers of Excellence (CoEs) – Centre for Nano and Material Sciences; International Institute for Aerospace Engineering and Management; Centre for Emerging Technologies; Centre for Disaster Mitigation; Centre for Research in Social Sciences and Education; Centre for Ancient History & Culture; Centre for Indian Psychology; Centre for Advanced Studies in Biosciences, Center for Post Graduate Studies and Centre for Pure & Applied Sciences.
The university offers over 185 programmes at the undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels spanning elective courses and interdisciplinary certificate programmes ranging from Languages, Social Sciences & Humanities, Physical & Life Sciences, Engineering Science & Technology, Management and Commerce, etc. PhD and M.Phil.

Student life
Jain University campus housing system can accommodate nearly 85 percent of the total student population at the university.The residential system has a number of "living-learning communities" where academic activities and residential life are combined.
Hostel accommodation
Jain University offers both on campus (JGI Global Campus) and off-campus accommodations in different locations in Bangalore for the admitted students. The residential arrangements are separate for boys and girls. University accommodations are managed by the Hostel Management Division.[10] students are provided with facilities
