OpenMobile World Wide Inc. is a technology start-up focusing on the delivering of cross-platform solutions for mobile-devices (e.g. tablet, smart-phone, e-reader), smart-/connected-TV, and other embedded systems, in the post-PC era.

Founded in 2010, by serial entrepreneur Nachi Junankar (ex-CEO at Live Wire Inc.), senior software developers Robert (Bob) Angelo (ex-COO of Phoenix Technologies Ltd) and Zigurd Mednieks (former Chief Architect at D2 Technologies Inc.), the company is headquartered in the town of Framingham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, US, with offices located in China, India, and Finland.
Rather than positioning its solutions towards end-users, the company's products are intended for OEMs.

OpenMobile's Application Compatibility Layer (ACL™) offers application compatibility, enabling Android applications to run unmodified on non-Android operating systems (e.g. Windows, MeeGo, Bada, QNX, WebOS, Symbian, etc.). In other words, it allows Android applications to run side by side with the native MeeGo/Symbian/.../... ones.[1][2]

According to the company, Android applications do not need to undergo modification, recompilation, or repackaging, in order to run under ACL. And that, unlike virtualisation and emulation technologies (e.g. VMWare), ACL's small footprint does not drain so much amount of resources from mobile-devices.
