Beast

Beast can mean:-

  • Another name for animal, usually one that is particularly large and dangerous.
  • In the UK and Australia, singular form of the animal collectively referred to as cattle.
  • As an insult.
  • Slang for meaning someone is really good at something: "Toula is a beast at drawing" or "Karis is a beast with the ladies".
  • That someone is a person to look up to or that someone is very popular or cool: "Toula is a beast".
  • That something is exaggerated or filled with elements that push it beyond a level of reality: "That movie was beast (or beastly)" or "Toula is a beastly eater".
  • That something is particularly difficult: "That physics assignment was a beast."
  • Although less commonly, to describe something or someone particularly unattractive: "Karis is a beast".
  • Also as a verb, and usually describes when someone goes over the top with something or does something particularly good or bad: "Karis beasted at guitar."
  • A negative description eg. "Dean Gaffney is a megabeast 9000"
  • Among palaeontologists, to mean "mammal" and to translate the elements "thero-" and "-therium" in biological names.
