Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by TOUMOU (talk | contribs) at 18:24, 7 April 2017 (North India). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. LG-Gunther :  Talk  09:01, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:27, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Continuous addition of original research; block evasion . ChamithN (talk) 10:20, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. NeilN talk to me 14:37, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: High persistent of vandalism. To be protected because it's high-rated television drama. International Editor Shah (talk) 11:51, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Lectonar (talk) 11:54, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated modification of sourced information updating episode count that does not match data in tagged reference.

    See also Talk:Jeopardy!#7,500 episodes. AldezD (talk) 13:48, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. At least two editors involved in this dispute have been autoconfirmed, so semi-protection would be moot. Please continue to work it out on the talk page. caknuck ° needs to be running more often 16:24, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: High level of persistent vandalism by the same user (know that is the same for the WHOIP location, although it changes the IP twice in a day). I request a semi-protection of this page because every day various users we have to revert the changes on this page. This page was semi-protected a week ago and he waited for the protection to end to keep doing again those vandalism changes. I request a bigger semi-protection of the page. --TechnicianGB (talk) 14:55, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. and TechnicianGB no attacks on the IP. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:30, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    @CambridgeBayWeather: ok thanks. --TechnicianGB (talk) 17:32, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This page is clearly a press release, and it's been written and edited by essentially one user. That user has deleted my edits, including my addition of a number of Citation Needed notes. I request that the page be protected so this user cannot continue making changes. It seems very clear to me that the page is little more than marketing info, with very few citations.

    Kirkmc (talk) 14:57, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:32, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: High level of persistent vandalism by the same 2 users, as they use this time a fixed IP, I did discuss with one user in the talk page and he keeps deleting the sources, the data... Without caring about nothing and just saying unrelated things, but it still does those kind of editions. The other user puts directly ridiculous data, both users vandalizing the climate paragraph of the page of Lisbon. I request a semi-protection of this page because every day various users we have to revert the changes on this page. --TechnicianGB (talk) 14:58, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:34, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Salt - Recreated four times today. I think that's probably quite enough. TimothyJosephWood 14:59, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Creation protected indefinitely. caknuck ° needs to be running more often 16:17, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:26, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:41, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. See article history. Eik Corell (talk) 16:30, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 6 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:44, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Given the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the SCOTUS seat Garland was nominated for, this page has and likely will continue to see disruptive editing related to that. 331dot (talk) 16:49, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:47, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: There has been a long, slow edit war at Sciences Po. The article was full-protected once, but the to-and-fro resumed after it lifted. I am trying to initiate discussion at the talk page and get the parties to talk. However, the unregistered users continue to edit-war without participating in the discussion. Semi-protection for about a month should force them to come to the talk page. Kautilya3 (talk) 16:57, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism of Salman of Saudi Arabia & Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud. Touzrimounir (talk) 18:24, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – See User talk:2405:204:F288:91B6:B1CB:7AC0:7D51:6997. - Mlpearc (open channel) 18:21, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Section 'Criticisms and controversies' talks about Pastor Alwin but there is substantiated reference for that. Please it removed. Next sub-section talks about a murder but that again is not factual. I asked the admin for removing protection level but he has not responded back. @Jeril842002 (talk) 14:18, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Where did you ask the protecting admin? You have more accounts? Lectonar (talk) 14:21, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    Hello @Lectonar, I asked in Talk section of the Wikipage Jeril842002 (talk) 14:40, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Declined Procedural decline; wanting to make an edit is not a valid reason for unprotecting an entire page. Please continue discussing on the talk page, and feel free to make an edit request if necessary. Swarm 20:33, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
