Alliance Air is an Indian airline which was started as a low-cost arm of Indian Airlines. As part of Indian's merger with Air India, it was renamed Air India Regional.[3] It operates 306 weekly flights to 42 domestic destinations as a subsidiary of Air India.[4] It operates mostly in Tier-2 & Tier-3 Cities in India connecting them to major metro cities.
In March 2017 the carrier reverted back to its Alliance Air name and introduced a simplified new livery featuring Air India's former Centaur logo.[5]
History
Air India Regional was established as Alliance Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian Airlines on 1 April 1996 and started operations on 21 June 1996. It was renamed Air India Regional after the merger between Air India and Indian Airlines.[6]
The carrier is now reverting to its Alliance Air name with a revised livery, one each ATR 42 and 72 have been repainted in the new look already.
Destinations
As of January 2017[update], Alliance flies to 35 destinations in India. Its operating bases are Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Kempegowda International Airport, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
