2018 Alabama elections

A general election will be held in the U.S. state of Alabama on November 6, 2018. All of Alabama's executive officers will be up for election as well as all of Alabama's seven seats in the United States House of Representatives.

Governor

Incumbent Republican Governor Kay Ivey, who assumed the office of governor after the resignation of Robert J. Bentley, will be eligible to seek a full term.

Lieutenant governor

The office of Lieutenant Governor is currently vacant.

State Senator Rusty Glover is running for the Republican nomination.[1] Other potential Republican candidates include Alabama State Board of Education member Mary Scott Hunter.[2]

Attorney general

Incumbent Republican Attorney General Steve Marshall, who was appointed by Governor Bentley in February 2017 after appointing Attorney General Luther Strange to the U.S. Senate, will be eligible to seek a full term.

Potential Republican candidates include State Senator Arthur Orr and State Senator Cam Ward.[2]

Secretary of State

Incumbent Republican Secretary of State John Merrill is eligible to run for re-election to a second term.

State auditor

Incumbent Republican State Auditor Jim Zeigler is eligible to run for re-election to a second term.

State treasurer

Incumbent Republican State Treasurer Young Boozer is term-limited and cannot run for re-election to a third consecutive term.

Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries

Incumbent Republican Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries John McMillan is term-limited and cannot run for re-election to a third consecutive term.

Public Service Commission

The two Associate Commissioner seats on the Alabama Public Service Commission will be up for election. Incumbent Republican Commissioners Jeremy Oden, who was appointed to the Commission by Governor Bentley in December 2012, and Chip Beeker, who was first elected in 2014, are both eligible to run for re-election.

United States Senate (special)

Incumbent U.S. Senator Luther Strange is running for the remainder of the term to which Jeff Sessions was elected in 2014.

United States House of Representatives

All of Alabama's seven seats in the United States House of Representatives will be up for election in 2018.
