Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie is an upcoming studio album by Fleetwood Mac vocalists Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie, due to be released on June 9, 2017.[3]

Background

With sessions beginning in 2014 with Fleetwood Mac band members John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham, and Christine McVie, Buckingham McVie began as groundwork for a new Fleetwood Mac studio album. The album would have been the first Fleetwood Mac studio album featuring the classic Rumours lineup since 1987's Tango in the Night. In 2015, Stevie Nicks announced her plans to work with Fleetwood Mac in the studio, and claimed that they had lots of material to work with.[4] However, she later rescinded those promises, and sessions were backed up even further.[5] Nicks instead opted to go on tour for her solo album 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault.[6] McVie and Buckingham ultimately decided to release the album as a duo rather than wait for Nicks to participate.[7]

During a Billboard magazine interview in 2014, it was revealed that Fleetwood Mac (minus Nicks) had spent two months in Studio D at the Village Recorder in Los Angeles. The band had previously utilized the studio to record their 1979 album Tusk. By the end of the two-month session, they had already laid down eight songs, including "Carnival Begin", "Too Far Gone" and "Red Sun". [8] An interview in Uncut in March 2017 revealed further titles including: "Sleeping Around the Corner" (Buckingham), and "In My World" (Buckingham). "Red Sun" features lyrics from McVie and musical arrangement by Buckingham. [citation needed] "Sleeping Around the Corner" was also included as a bonus track for Buckingham's solo album, Seeds We Sow.[9]

On April 11, the complete track list was announced. The album will now be called "Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie" instead of "Buckingham McVie". "In My World" will also be released as a single on April 14 through streaming and digital services. Buckingham also released this joint statement. "We were exploring a creative process, and the identity of the project took on a life organically. The body of work felt like it was meant to be a duet album. We acknowledged that to each other on many occasions, and said to ourselves, 'What took us so long?!'"[2]

Release

On March 24, 2017, McVie announced the duo's album would be released on June 9, 2017. McVie also stated the album would be available for purchase on "iTunes and vinyl – it will be available everywhere". The album is set to be released on the Warner Bros. Records label. Pre-orders are available now for both physical and digital copies

Live Performances

On April 11, a 14 date North American tour was announced.[2] Their performance in Woodinville Washington will take place just three days after Fleetwood Mac's joint performance with Earth, Wind & Fire and Journey at Classic West.[10]
