Principal, Superintendent, and School Board Scandal
In May 2016, the sudden announcement of three of four of the districts principals resiging shocked the community. Later it was found out that the three principles were not certified fro short periods of time costing the district $107,000 in fines. In an open letter the three principals claimed they were given seventy two hours to provide paperwork of certification. Within seventy two hours the appropriate paperwork was provided, however the superintendent reported them to the state of Michigan anyway. The three principals decided to resign under the direction of their lawyer. Meanwhile, the Facebook pages "Citizens for Change at Croswell-Lexington Community Schools" was created, and both the superintendent and the assistant superintendent resigned for a price of roughly $700,000 combined. In August 2016 the community pushed for the recall of the school broad.
