Cover

"Diamond wrote and recorded the songs for himself, but the cover versions were released before his own." In such cases, Diamond's own recording was the cover version. A cover is a version released after the original release of the song. It doesn not have to do with who wrote it. The rise of the singer-songwriter has confused people on this subject. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.68.134.1 (talk) 19:46, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Being a published composer myself, I would have an issue with this. I can't go with any notion that a composer that is also the recording artist can ever be said as recording the "cover". Especially in Diamond's case. He is too well known for writing and making hits out of his own material. Give me an example of one of his songs that someone else recorded before Diamond, and was a bigger hit than when Diamond recorded it. If you can't, your theory doesn't hold water. error in age--70 not 60

"In 2012, Diamond married his manager, Katie McNeil, in front of family and close friends in Los Angeles.[75] Seven months earlier, on September 7 2011, in a message on Twitter, the 60-year-old Diamond announced his engagement to the 41-year-old McNeil."

he was born in 1941, so in 2011, he was 70, not 60.. wle
