A still, sometimes called a publicity still, is a photograph taken on the set of a movie or television program during production and used for promotional purposes. In some cases, a single frame is taken from a footage reel and blown up. In others, a still photographer is present on the set and shoots along side of the production crew.

In the case of stills taken from an animated cartoon, the image may be photographed from the original animation cel, or digitally captured via computer, in the case of computer animation or cel animation where the source material is no longer available.
