Wikipedian in Residence at the National Library of Scotland

[edit]

I'm just dropping you a quick note about a new Wikipedian in Residence job that's opened up at the National Library of Scotland. There're more details at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scotland#Wikimedian in Residence at the National Library of Scotland. Richard Symonds (WMUK) (talk) 15:35, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Autobiography

[edit]

You wrote here "Wikipedia has no issue with a person or organisation updating their own page to provide factual information, only biased / unreferenced information". I'm afraid that is quite wrong. Please read WP:Autobiography, specifically "Writing an autobiography on Wikipedia is an example of conflict of interest editing and is strongly discouraged. Editing a biography about yourself is acceptable only if you are removing unambiguous vandalism or clear-cut and serious violations of our biography of living persons policy". Very often that "strong discouragement" takes the form of reversal or removal of such contributions, as has happened at Richard Eastell.

Also, it looks as if you are edit-warring at that page. In general, if you make an edit and it is reverted, your next step is not to make the same edit again but to start a discussion on the talk-page of the article – please see WP:BRD. Persistent edit-warring can lead to loss of editing privileges, so please be careful. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:48, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
