Television & Radio Career
Tanya Hart is an Emmy Award-winning producer, syndicated radio personality, red carpet host and legendary Hollywood Insider.
The Los Angeles-based talent currently hosts her nationally syndicated radio segment "Hollywood Live with Tanya Hart" on more than 300 stations for Urban Radio Networks (AURN). She was recently featured on the TV One documentary series "Hollywood" on an episode about "Jeffersons."
Additionally, she heads up Tanya Hart Communications, Inc. in Hollywood, a multi-media content company that recently produced a national awareness campaign act against HIV/AIDS for the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention Agency (CDC). She has also produced several documentaries for PBS, as well an audio documentary "Ray Charles: The Music Lives On" that can be heard on British Airways.
In 2016, Hart was elected as co-chair of The Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors (www.Caucus.org), making her the first African-American and first woman to head up the 40-year-old entertainment industry trade organization. Her term as co-chair alongside veteran television producer Robert Papazian is for a two-year term.
As Black Entertainment Television (BET)'s first talk show host, Hart hosted over 300 episodes of “Live from LA with Tanya Hart.” Her infamous interview with late rapper Tupac Shakur from the series would be used in the 2003 Oscar-nominated documentary film “Tupac: Resurrection."
For six seasons, Hart was both a contributor and then co-host of E! Entertainment’s “The Gossip Show,” a roundtable entertainment news show that preceded the widely-popular TMZ news magazine show.
At the height of the Hollywood Gossip movement, Hart was a regular on daytime talk shows like The Ricki Lake Show, Forgive & Forget, The Joan Rivers Show, and The Sally Jessy Raphael Show; as well as on Court TV, Inside Edition and Celebrity Justice.
In her early years, Hart previously worked at Boston WBZ-TV in a variety of roles, including as host of the public affairs programs, "Coming Together," for which she also interview many celebrities and news figures. In 1990, she secured a one-on-one interview with Winnie Mandela during the world tour of Mandela and her then-husband, Nelson Mandela, for a U.S. television exclusive.
Hart is also a singer. In 2005, she released her debut album Tanya Hart Sings [1].
Awards & Recognition
In addition to being a four-time Emmy Award winner, Hart has also received a Peabody Award, five medals from the International TV and Film Festival of New York, a Trailblazer Award from the Legacy Ladies Torch Awards and numerous other honors.
Hart's company, Tanya Hart Communications was recognized recently by USCA as part of their "Best of Local Business" Award Program. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. Nationwide, only 1 in 1000 (less than one-tenth of 1%) 2013 Award recipients qualified as five-time Award Winners.
Personal
Hart is married to her college sweetheart Dr. Phil Hart, a retired professor who is now CEO of Hart Realty Advisors. The couple has a daughter, Ayanna and one granddaughter, Chloe.
Hart graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Communications from Michigan State University and later earned her Masters Degree in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
