2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III (Final Chapter): The Wings Tour is the upcoming concert tour headlined by the South Korean boy band BTS. The tour is set to visit South Korea, Chile, Brazil, United States, Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan and Thailand.

Background

On November 18, 2016, BTS released a trailer announcing the tour with first shows to be held in South Korea, later six shows were confirmed in five cities in Chile, Brazil, and the US.[1][2][3]

Tickets for the US shows sold-out within a few minutes. Due to high demand, two more shows were announced in the Prudential Center and the Honda Center.[4] With over 60,000 fans were in attendance in concerts across Newark, Chicago, and Anaheim.[5] The group went on to sell out their concert headlined in Chile and became the fastest K-pop group to sell out the Movistar Arena, Chile's biggest indoor arena. The press release from BigHit Entertainment quoted Chilean promoters as saying.[6] According to Puntoticket, the Chilean ticket sales and distribution company, the BTS show was the fastest-selling show in Chile's history, only comparable to Maroon 5’s concert in 2016, selling more than 10,000 tickets in less than 2 hours.[7] On January 13, 2017, BTS announced a second concert at the same venue.[8] In Brazil, more than 50,000 fans tried to buy the 14,000 available tickets, which led to protests on Twitter asking for the Brazilian promoters of the tour to change the concerts to a bigger venue.[9][10] BTS sold 44,000 tickets in total across Chile and Brazil.[11]

In Asia, it was reported that BTS had sold 20,000 tickets in Bangkok, 20,000 in Manila,10,000 in Hong Kong, and 145,000 across 6 cities in Japan.[12]

Reception

The tour received good reviews from music critics. Billboard praised the group dance and calling it "militarily precise choreography", they also praised the solo stages from the members, "The solitary, reflective showcases moved the audience".[13] PopCrush wrote that the group owned the stage, and described that the concert "mesmerizing the Chicago audience with a show that was nothing short of a musical and visual spectacle.".[14] Bucks County Courier Times said that the tour is an "incredible experience".[15] Idolator compliment the show from dancing, music and solo stages, and described the tour as "the perfect introduction to the professionalism and pageantry of K-Pop. BTS is in a league of their own and the world is starting to realize it."[16]
