Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Sonneman (talk | contribs) at 17:06, 17 May 2017 (Robert Sonneman). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that articles deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7, G5 or G11 be undeleted here.

Note that requests for undeletion are not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Instructions for special cases

Elenasmodels

Dear Kurykh,

I had write on Elenasmodels in 2016 and today I noticed that my page has been deleted. Can I have proper cause why my page has considered for deletion after 1 year? Can I re-write on the same? Please advice me.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.243.75.226 (talkcontribs)

Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elenasmodels, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:10, 11 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ngong forest

ngong forest is a broad topic and could be constructive in the encyclopedia, i believe it was nominated for deleting may be because of less content or explanation but i just introduce the article so i can add valuable content later. moving the page title from ngong forest to ngong road forest will be referring to a completely different topic. Birmingham Festival Choral Society

Birmingham Festival Choral Society (BFCS) is Birmingham’s longest established SATB chorus; it was formed in 1843, and is still going strong.

The first BFCS concert was in Town Hall, Birmingham in 1845; in the 1846 Triennial Musical Festival Felix Mendelssohn himself conducted the première of Elijah, with BFCS supplying the major portion of the Festival Chorus, as it did until the last Triennial Musical Festival in 1912. Mendelssohn also conducted BFCS in a revised version of Elijah in Birmingham Town Hall on 27th April 1847, just six months before his death.

Since Elijah (1846) BFCS has regularly been involved in the premières of "modern" music ranging from Dvorak's Requiem (1891), Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius (1900) and The Music Makers (1912), through to Patrick Larley's The Birmingham Spirituals (2014). Since 1975 the choir has premièred seventeen new choral works (eleven commissioned by BFCS).

Notable BFCS conductors have included Sir Thomas Beecham, Sir Henry Wood, and Sir Adrian Boult (who became the choir's president until his death in 1983). The longest-serving ones have been William C Stockley (1855 - 1895) and Jeremy Patterson (1969 - 2004). David Wynne was appointed as the seventeenth BFCS Music Director in November 2016.

BFCS has always helped to raise funds for charitable purposes. Proceeds from Birmingham's Triennial Musical Festivals helped to build and maintain Birmingham's General Hospital, and this policy has been continued with the choir’s annual Christmas concert, which raises funds for a local charity chosen by chorus members.

The choir regularly tours abroad. Since 1992 it has performed in Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Slovenia, Estonia, Slovakia, Eire, and France. On tours to Eastern Europe, BFCS has taken gifts and money to aid local charities.

The choir rehearses every Wednesday night (at 7.15 pm) at Lordswood Girls' School, and is always pleased to welcome prospective new members.

Not done This page was deleted as a blatant advertisement under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion; and Wikipedia is not to be used as a vehicle for promotion. As disclosed at the top of this page: "Please do not request that articles deleted under speedy deletion criteria ... G11 ... be undeleted here." Lorenzo Iorio

He is an expert in the field of general relativity and astrophysics. Freely available sources like the database NASA/ADS certifies that. He is the EiC of a journal listing a Nobel Prize in its Editorial Board, who cited Iorio several times in a paper of him. There are several scientists in Wikipedia with a similar or lower standing. No reasons for not having him as well. —Redwheel (talk) 21:20, 11 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Hi Redwheel. None of what you said has relevancy here. This page is very specifically for uncontroversial undeletion of pages that were deleted on uncontroversial bases, and so, as instructed at the top, it is not for undeletion of pages deleted after discussion, or on certain other bases that would overturn a considered exercise of judgment. The inclusion of an article about this subject has been considered by the community at two separate articles for deletion debates (1, 2), and so is not within the ambit of this page.

The place, if at all, to properly request undeletion is at Wikipedia:Deletion review, under the idea that "significant new information has come to light since a deletion that would justify recreating the deleted page"—which would need to be supported by disclosing formerly unfound or new reliable, secondary, independent, published sources that treat him in substantive detail (not just mere mentions). In the absence oh bringing those to light, it is doubtful any such request would be successful. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 21:35, 11 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Two articles: Geometry template & Mathomat

Geometry template · ( talk | logs | history | links | watch ) · [revisions]

Mathomat · ( talk | logs | history | links | watch | afd | afd2 ) · [revisions]

Can the article Geometry template be undeleted, it was PRODed, so that I can do a tidy up in relation to:

Or, if attribution is not an issue here, then copy the content to User:Aoziwe/sandbox/Geometry template for me to work on it.

Also, can the content of the previous, deleted, version of Mathomat be copied to User:Aoziwe/sandbox/Mathomat (old) for me to work on it.

Subject to what is there and what else I can find, I am at this time presuming I will have one article with a couple of redirects, if an article is warranted after I review all the material available.

Thanks. Aoziwe (talk) 13:24, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article was deleted in 2007, as there was no significance (true). And removed again in 2011 as a repost (someone tried to bypass the procedure for restoring the article). Now I translated a Russian-language article (look at this draft) about the company (article in ru-wiki exists since 2011). I believe that it is obvious from the text that the company was one of the largest developers in Eastern Europe. —ELindas (talk) 14:12, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ELindas. Please understand for future reference that under our copyright licenses, when you translate a foreign language Wikipedia article, or copy any content across from another page by any means, you must provide copyright attribution in the edit summary, stating what you've done, and provide a hyperlink to the source of your copying/translation. Please see generally Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and specifically here, Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. I have repaired the attribution in your draft using a dummy edit in this diff.

Since the previous article's content was promotional, and deleted after this discussion, and since your translation draft does not use the content from there, a history merge would graft onto its history content with a different origin, which is not usually done. But just undeleting it (without performing a history merge) would leave this separate page, deleted after discussion, just sitting out there. So I'm not sure what the need is here for undeletion. Is your purpose to see whether it has any usable content? Meanwhile, since it was deleted after two AfD's, I am pinging the deleting admin, Courcelles,‎ who salted the title. Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David R. Hawkins (2nd nomination), it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:13, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Zhongchuxiong, each Wikipedia is separate, and any deletion discussion here would trump the simple fact that it exists on another project, which really provides little precedent because of the way Wikipedia operates. See by analogy, WP:WAX. That being said, if the foreign language article contains content that if translated, would address the basis for deletion at the discussion (which here was notability concerns) it certainly might be a good basis for a recreation that would not be subject to CSD G4 as a "repost". It is also true here that the [2nd] deletion discussion was five years ago, so if, for example, there has been significant treatment of the subject in the types of reliable, secondary, independent, published sources that evidence notability in the intervening period, a new article using those sources would invalidate any G4, but the rub is that a repost cannot be a stub, or just contain the prior content. It must show the deletion discussion basis is no longer applicable. Regarding the canned template I posted above, if any request were to be made at Wikipedia:Deletion review, I would suggest any such nomination would be predominantly under the idea that "significant new information has come to light since a deletion that would justify recreating the deleted page"—which would the be supported by disclosing those suitable sources that have come into existence in the interim. • BottleOfChocolateMilk I'd restored this, but I couldn't find a single source to show that this movie exists. When I wrote the article for "The Warehouse" (actually titled "The Torturing"), I was under the impression that it had been released in 2008. However, after emailing the director, I have ascertained that the film actually hasn't been released yet. I was wondering if I could just get it restored for a little while or moved to a user draft or something? That way, I could save it somewhere and add {{db-author}} when I'm done so it can be deleted again. Once the movie's released, I can re-create the page and add reviews and other sources, and I won't have to rewrite the whole article. —BottleOfChocolateMilk (talk) 00:07, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia articles are about subjects that are already notable, not for those that are "on the rise". If and when he becomes notable, then there can be an article. Robert Sonneman

Robert Sonneman, "Lighting's Modern Master", pioneered contemporary lighting by making it an art form. His award-winning designs have been at the forefront of the design world for almost five decades. Since their introduction in the 1960s and '70s, many of Robert's lighting designs have become classics of the modern era. Born and raised in New York City, Robert Sonneman displayed a keen interest in art at an early age. He studied art at the Rhodes School, took life classes at the Art Students League, and as a student became a member of the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum. Three days out of the Navy, at the age of nineteen, Robert answered an ad to work as the sole employee in a lighting store called George Kovacs. Sonneman was introduced to the European minimal modern perspective, from the Bauhaus industrialism to the sensuality of the Danish modern forms. While finishing his senior year at LIU, Sonneman started a lighting factory for Kovacs, designing and building a line of lamps based on the sensibilities he had developed, before leaving to found his own factory a few years later. With an ever-present curiosity and hunger to discover new insights, Sonneman acquired the skills to draw and engineer the products he created. His first products were functional and mechanically-based designs, like the Orbiter® Lamp that is still in production today. His designs became, and continue to be, recognized and acclaimed by the design community, museums and major retailers. His works have been exhibited in museums including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York; Contemporary Arts Museum Houston; the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry; the Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; St. Louis Design Center; and the Saskatchewan Science Centre, Canada. Sonneman has lectured at design schools and professional organizations internationally. As an active contributor to design education, a guest lecturer and critic, he has served on the Advisory Boards of the Pratt School of Architecture, Parsons School of Design and the Art Center College of Design. In addition, Sonneman has participated in the Stanford Forum on Design and served on the design advisory board of the Nissan Motor Corp. As a working designer, he has divided his time between Milan, Tokyo and his New York home. Through the 1970s, he broadened his insight from the origins of the early European industrial aesthetic and the Zen of the Japanese architectural masters, through the de-constructivists, the American Post Modernists, and today's architectural Sculpturalism. American Contemporary Style is broadly diverse, crossing over several genres from modern's original machine aesthetic to a more comfortable, individually centric expressive style. "I continue to investigate the evolutionary and the revolutionary as the basis for developing a cosmopolitan American style,” he says. In the following years, Sonneman studied and worked in architecture and industrial design until his practice became overwhelmed with product design projects. Lighting was always an important area in Sonneman's design practice. Subtleties of the architectural discipline are evident throughout his design experience. "Those of my era were all trained as Miesian disciples and believed in the pathos of minimalism,” he says. “Less was always more. I loved the clarity of the point of view of Modernism. I connected with the designs of Marcel Breuer, Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and other Bauhaus disciples. I was driven by the industrial design of Porsche and Braun and Knoll, and architecture from Mies to Pei to Kahn to Meier to Gehry." After developing product as CEO of Ralph Lauren Home Product Development, Sonneman gained insight to a richly eclectic, broad range of style and grew to become a Modernist with a historical sensibility. Robert understood that it was critical to develop insight with classical design, art and traditional architecture as a basis for understanding the genesis of the modern movement. "I am driven by what's next. I am curious and challenged and excited to discover the odyssey that is design,” says Sonneman. Lighting is infinitely interesting and incredibly challenging on many levels. Lighting requires knowledge in design, manufacturing, materials and process, with technical and mechanical expertise across a broad range of activities, including a deep commitment to technology. Working each day with a team of dedicated young people, eager to learn and anxious to invent their futures, Sonneman continues to push the boundaries of design and innovation.
