Furtoug (Template:Lang-inh) — is a rural locality (aul) in Dzheyrakhsky District of the Republic of Ingushetia, Russia[6]. Furtoug is one of the 6 rural localities comprising Dzheyrakh rural settlement[7]. Furtoug was a birthplace of two influential figures in Ingush history - one of the first Ingush scholars Chakh Akhriev and famous revolutioner Gapur Akhriev.
Geography
Furtoug is situated in the Dzheyrakhsky Gorge at the hills of the Tseyloam ridge, on the right embankment of the Armkhi river. The aul is home to Furtoug waterfall, named after famous Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev - the prominent scientist visited the waterfall in Jully, 1980 heading a geological expedition in the area.
Infrastructure
The village has one street - Bodi-Khadzhi street[8]. In 1981 а memorial museum dedicated to Gapur Akhriev has been opened in his home. The museum displays old way of life, documents and photographs associated with its famous owner.
