Geography

Bhuvanagiri is located at 11°28′N 79°38′E / 11.47°N 79.63°E / 11.47; 79.63[1]. It has an average elevation of 11 metres (36 feet).

It is the birth place Swami Ragavendra.

It is known for its Silk Sarees and Silk Textiles which are called as Bhuvanagiri Patu.

There are two higher secondary schools. Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Governmebt Girls Higher Secondary School.

It is 7 km from Chidambaram.

Demographics

As of 2001 India censusTemplate:GR, Bhuvanagiri had a population of 19,876. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Bhuvanagiri has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 79% and female literacy of 64%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
