An independent grammar school in the Melbourne suburb of Ringwood. It opened in 1966 as Yarra Valley Church of England School and was for boys only. Girls were admitted to the two senior levels in 1978. The school progressively became fully co-educational from 1993 through 1995. At one time called Yarra Valley Anglican School. It is now called Yarra Valley Grammar School.

The school has recently adopted a healthy food policy, ending the sale of a number of unhealthy foods within the school's cafeteria. This policy has since been adopted by a number of schools within the region of Victoria.

In 2006, the school is celebrating its 40th birthday with many special events, including a whole school photo and an aerial photo of the students positioned to create the number 40. The school celebrated its birthday in a service at St Paul's Cathedral (Victoria) in September 2006.

Laptop Issues

Unlike other private schools and some other public schools, Yarra Valley has decided not to follow the trend of issuing students school laptops. To substitute the absence of laptops, Yarra valley has invested in high power multimedia machines and high bandwidth intranet infrastructure to accommodate the ever increasing number of students interested in Multimedia as their future career.

Houses

There are four houses in Yarra Valley Grammar

  • Hughes - Yellow Shirt
  • Arnott - Maroon Shirt
  • Annells - Sky Blue Shirt
  • Plummer - Green Shirt

The four School Houses fight for the House Cup each year with a combined points system through competetive winter sports, swimming, and cross country.
