ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, SamHolt6. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for George Charles Beckley

On 29 January 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article George Charles Beckley, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that according to family tradition, George Charles Beckley designed the Flag of Hawaii, which was passed down as an heirloom in the form of a child's frock? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/George Charles Beckley. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, George Charles Beckley), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Invitation to join MILHIST

Welcome to MILHIST

March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

nominating pages for deletion

Hello. when you nominate a page for deletion, make sure you notify the article creator. The garmine (talk) 19:05, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the notice. Is there a template I can use to do that quickly?--SamHolt6 (talk) 19:08, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If you use Twinkle, it will notify the creator automatically (unless you uncheck the box). Primefac (talk) 22:29, 6 July 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)[reply]

Hello SamHolt6, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of എ.എം.എല്‍.പി. സ്കൂള്‍ ചെറുപുത്തൂര്‍, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not nonsense - there is meaningful content. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. - MrX 16:31, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I may have been hasty with labeling the page as nonsense. My bad. But besides that point, the article in question only cites one source, [1], a blog that does no fall under Wikipedia's reliable source preview. We should consider tagging this article as non-notable in my opinion. SamHolt6 (talk) 16:36, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion contested: James F. McDonnell

Hello SamHolt6. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of James F. McDonnell, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Material produced by the U.S. Government is in the public domain. Thank you. - MrX 16:11, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
