Roger Waters concert chronology |
The Us + Them Tour is a North American concert tour by Roger Waters, formerly of Pink Floyd. The tour will visit the United States and Canada, showcasing songs from Waters' career both with Pink Floyd and as a solo artist. It opened on 26 May 2017 in Kansas City, MO and will end on 28 October 2017 in Vancouver, BC.[1][2]
Background
In mid-October 2016, Waters announced that he would return to North America in 2017 with a pioneering new tour named "Us + Them", stating: "We are going to take a new show on the road, the content is very secret. It'll be a mixture of stuff from my long career, stuff from my years with Pink Floyd, some new things. Probably 75% of it will be old material and 25% will be new, but it will be all connected by a general theme. It will be a cool show, I promise you. It'll be spectacular like all my shows have been." The tour is named after the track "Us and Them," from Pink Floyd's 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.[1][2] It also got it's name from Barack Obama's speech on immigration reforms, saying nationalism shouldn't be established on an "us and them" basis.[3][nb 1]

Notes
- ^ Excerpt from that speech: "...there are few things that are more important to us as a society than who gets to come here and call our country home, who gets the privilege of becoming a citizen of the United States of America. That's a big deal. When we talk about that in the abstract, it's easy sometimes for the discussion to take on a feeling of us versus them. And when that happens, a lot of folks forget that most of us used to be them."
