Chidera Nneoma Okolie (born 27 March 1993)[1] is a Nigerian writer. Her debut novel, When Silence Becomes Too Loud, was endorsed by then President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan.
She has received numerous awards including the Fiction Writer of the Year at the Nigerian Writers Awards and twice being named one of the most influential Nigerian writers.
Biography
Okolie studied Law at the University of Nigeria and was admitted to the Nigerian bar in November 2016.[2]
Literary career
Okolie published her first novel, When Silence Becomes Too Loud, in December 2014 while a law student.[3] In March 2015 the novel was endorsed by the then President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, in an entrepreneurship initiative in Abuja.[2]
In April 2017, she announced the pre-release of her second publication, Not Forgiven, a collection of short psychological thriller stories.[2]
Honours
In June 2015, Okolie was nominated for the African Achievers Awards, held in South Africa, and in September of the same year, she was named a Guinness Made of Black Heroine. In 2016, she garnered three awards, Fiction Writer of the Year at the Nigerian Writers Awards,[1] Fiction Writer of the year at the Xperience Womanity Awards, and The Most Outstanding Fiction Writer of the year by Alpha Gamma Multimedia Limited.[2]
Also in 2016, she was named one of the 100 most influential Nigerian writers under 40,[1] and in January 2017 she was named one of the 51 Influential Nigerian Women Writers Under 40 alongside Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Chibundu Onuzo, among others.
