History
The Golden Age- Brent Anderson (1977–1984)
Coming to Clinton HS in 1972, Coach Anderson[2] compiled multiple winning records, multiple WIC crowns, and an undefeated 10–0 team in 1974. This Success carried with him to South Vermillion, after the new school was built in 1978. In his tenure, he is the winningest football coach in school history.

Rene Foli started is coaching career at Clinton HS during the late 60's and Early 70's (1969–1971) to be exact. Then he left for Sullivan HS where he became their Head Coach for many years(1979–1991) until he returned to South Vermillion in 1996. During that time the Wildcats had 4 5–5 seasons, one 8–3 and two sub .500 seasons.
Winning Returns and Goes- Ron Whiteman (2008–2010)
The Winning Wildcats returned under 1st year coach Ron Whiteman. Witeman was a Middle and High school assistant coach from Lafayette Jefferson HS in Lafayette Indiana. During his first year the wildcats went 6–5, their first winning seasion since 2001. The next year saw the best season in school history (by win%) when the Wildcats went 8–1 in the regular season. The next two years the wheels fell of the wildcat wagon and they went winless for 2 years. Which was one of the lowest points of the program.
A New Hope- Greg Barrett (2017–present)
Not since Brent Anderson have the Wildcats have been filled with so much hope. Coach Barrett was named the Wildcats new coach on February 21, 2017.[3] Barrett has spent the last eight years at North Putnam, except for a one-year departure to coach at Indiana State in 2011, during that time the Cougars went 57–34.[4] In 2010 Barrett guided North Putnam to its first semi-state football championship and a 2A state runner-up finish.[5]
