Welcome!

Hello, Oddsausageparty, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Michael Eric Bryan, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! ______________

Hi,

I work with Volleyball England and am starting to work on a series of British Volleyball athletes having already worked on Yasmin Kaashoek and am about to publish articles on the Bello brothers who got Gold at the Commonwealth Youth Games. I only did MIchael now because I saw an article of him using the long word which has now gained traction in other newspapers. Feel free to remove unsourced claims but I firmly believe the individual is of enough notability to remain - as with any athlete who I add.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, @Oddsausageparty:. If you work with Volleyball England, then you really do need to read our conflict of interest policy. I find it difficult to understand how you can have acquired some of the images you have uploaded without having a conflict of interest. You need to urgently read our copyright policy, because you have copied copyrighted text from your sources, which is flatly illegal. I suspect that both the Evan and Kaashoek articles should not exist, and in any case they must follow our policy on living people, which is also there for legal reasons. To put this in terms you might understand, your edits are like seeing someone turning up to a volleyball match with a bat and a cricket ball! :-) I can see you've made one or two good faith edits, so my hope is that you will channel your enthusiasm for volleyball in a useful way by learning how WP works and then clearing up the mess you have made so far. Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Michael Eric Bryan, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Matt's talk 12:23, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The images used are in the public domain and available by a quick google search. I'll happily reword several of my paragraphs, but no copyright exists on them so therefore there can be no breach of copyright. Evans and Kaashoeak are international athletes who have competed at the World Championships and are therefore notable. Michael Bryan is an athlete to have competed at European Championships and have a parliamentary record that makes him particularly notable - which is why it has been reported by numerous newspapers. I have no concern that these individuals meet the guidelines on living people.

If you are playing volleyball with a bat and a cricket ball, you aren't playing volleyball, you're playing a terrible game of Cricket. I hardly understand how editing a piece of information in the public domain with clear sourcing is not doing what Wikipedia strives for - to provide clear information. I find your comparison highly offensive and incredibly patronising.

The edits I classed as minor were adding a source or two, which I would hardly view as major edits given they have no bearing on what is written and would not be a subjct of dispute.
