BNN-VARA (or VARA-BNN) is Dutch broadcasting association that was founded on January 1st 2014 as a partial merger of Omroepvereniging VARA and Omroepvereniging BNN.

History

In 2011 VARA and BNN announced that they would merge. On November 6th 2011 the members of VARA voted for the merger, after the member council of BNN had already done so a week earlier. BNN and VARA announced on February 8th 2012[1] that the decision to merge was definite.

Marc Adriani is the General Manager of the new association, he was General Manager at BNN before this. The Media Manager is Frans Klein, who held the same role at VARA.

After the merge BNN and VARA kept using their separate branding, in 2017 it was announced that on August 24th 2017 the two broadcasters will start to operate as a single brand.
