Hunter Plake (born November 14, 1995) is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He is best known for being the lead singer for the pop duo Plake with his brother Dakota Plake. In addition to his band, Hunter also appeared on Season 12 of NBC's The Voice.[1] After leaving the show in 5th place, Hunter hyped up his fans and released Plake's independent debut single Eden on July 14, 2017, which topped the pop charts at #41.

Early Life

Hunter Christian Plake was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on November 14, 1995 to Bud & Youra Plake. He has one brother, Dakota Plake, born November 13, 1998. At a very young age, he became intrigued with music, thanks to his father's Christian rock band, Brother Brother.[2] He was constantly surrounded by music whether in the church or just around the house. When he was 14, he started writing his own music. After getting his GED during his junior year of high school, he attended Crossroads Leadership College in 2013, earning an associate degree in Music Arts. In 2014, he met his wife, Bethany (Jackson) Plake. The couple started dating that year and were married on June 10, 2016.[3] Two months after marriage, their car and home were destroyed in the historic floods of Baton Rouge, LA on August 13, 2016.[4]

Place & other Mainstream Success

Prior to his Voice success, Hunter had been writing and producing songs and was ready to release them, along with his brother, under the name Bywater. During The Voice, however, Hunter acquired fans and the brothers decided that their band name should be Plake. Right after Hunter left the show, the brothers started working hard on getting their first single ready to release.[5] As an independent pop duo, the boys released Eden as their debut single on July 14, 2017. It topped the pop charts at #41 and the all genres charts at #161. On August 12, 2017 Plake released their second single Hurricane Lovers. Together, the two songs have a quarter of a million plus streams on Spotify.
