Hello my name is Thithat. I live in Chiang Rai. I hope to make a good wikipedia with my home town. Thithat 09:04, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I question the source of the assertion that an American Missionary advised the destruction of the city walls in the 1930's. May well be true... but what's the source? If none is forthcoming I feel I must delete that assertion, made by an anonymous poster. Jfmxl 02:58, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

According to Michael Freeman's Lanna (ISB 9748225275) the walls were really teared down in the 1920s, after being built in 1858 after the refounding of the city. And in 1988 two small section were rebuilt. But no mention of missionaries in that paragraph. andy 10:35, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I am removing the paragraph asserting the Missionary instigation of the destruction of the ciy walls in the 1930's as no reference is forthcoming. Jfmxl 14:32, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Location

Hello, I am simply a Wikipedia user who has come to this page because of a friend's reference in something he sent me. I can see that Chiang Rai is about as far from Bangkok as you can go and still be in Thailand, but the map does not have a legend on it indicating the scale.

The location of the city relative to other places might be more valuable if Bangkok were included, too, I think. But I will leave more experienced Thai users to decide that. Rsperberg (talk) 15:27, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Air pollution

The pollution in Chiang Rai is similar to that in Chiang Mai, because it's a regional problem. It's been in the (Thai) media a lot this year (2012), blamed for widespread health problems and reduction in tourism. Someone with good knowledge of the topic, please add this! Photo for Chiang Rai

Can anyone make a nicer photo of the city to be used in this article? - Takeaway (talk) 11:04, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Chiang Rai (city). Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
