The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving. is the upcoming debut solo studio album by Cuban-born American singer Camila Cabello.[1] "Crying in the Club", which was released on May 19, 2017 was intended to be the album's first single, but it was then discarded from the album,[2][3] making "Havana" featuring Young Thug the proper lead single, which was released on August 30 due to the song's popularity on Spotify.[4]

Background

In December 2016, Cabello announced her departure from Fifth Harmony and decided to focus on a solo career. Cabello described the new album as "the story of my journey from darkness into light, from a time when I was lost to a time when I found myself again."[5] She wrote, "It was a kind of chapter you never want to read out loud",[6] and explained the 'whole album-making process' helped her deal with her emotions.[7]

Singles

"Crying in the Club" was originally released as the lead single from the album on May 19, 2017.[2] It was written by herself, along with Sia Furler and Benny Blanco, and has charted within the Top 20 in Belgium, Ireland, Lebanon, Portugal, and the UK. It has went Gold in the U.S and the U.K. and peaked within the Billboard Hot 100. The song was later discarded from the album.[3]

On August 30, via Twitter, Cabello confirmed the song "Havana", which features rapper Young Thug, as the second single.[4] It has so far reached the top 5 in the UK and number 64 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Originally released as a promotional single, its global popularity and streaming success led to its official radio release as a single on September 8, 2017. Due to "Crying in the Club" not being included on the album, it became the proper lead single.[3]

Promotional singles

"I Have Questions" was originally released on May 22, 2017 as the first promotional single from the album.[8]
