Baaghi (Template:Lang-ur; lit: Rebel) is a drama serial that premiered on Urdu 1 on 27 July 2017.[1] It is a biographical TV show on the famous, controversial Pakistani figure Qandeel Baloch who was murdered by her brother in the name of honor. The screenplay of this drama has been done by Umera Ahmed. Saba Qamar is playing the lead character of Fauzia/Qandeel in the series. Within a week of its launch, Baaghi becomes the most watched serial being viewed by Pakistanis on YouTube.[2]The drama is one of the most hyped TV serials ever produced in Pakistan.
Plot
Fauzia Batool (Saba Qamar) is a beautiful young girl who lives in a village house alomg with her parents (Irfan Khoosat and Saba Faisal), a younger brother, a younger sister, an older brother Rahim and Rahim's wife Esma. Fauzia's older sister Nazia is married. Fauzia is the apple of her father's eyes. Fauzia's mother also loves her a lot but she tries her best to discpline Fauzia as Fauzia is an outspoken and rebellioua girl. Fauzia's sister-in-law Esma is a manipulative woman who has the complete control over her husband. Esma's brother Sajid falls in love with Fauzia and asks Esma to ask for her hand. Esma is strongly against the marriage as she does not want her brother to marry such a sharp woman. Sajid manages to convince his sister who in turn conbinces Rahim, and that too very easily. Rahim and Esma talk to Rahim and Fauzia's parents about the proposal. They are reluctant but they finally succumb to the pressure exerted by the couple and confirm the propsal. However, Fauzia rejects the relation as she has dreams of joinging the showbiz. Fauzia's family tells her that it is too late to refuse to the marriage as the whole village has been told about it and calling off the engagement just before the wedding would ruin the reputation. Fauzia has fallen in love with Abid, the owner of a cosmetic shop in her neighborhood. Abid has promised to help her accomplish all her dreams and gives her many magazines of models. Fauzia tries her best to get married to him and he even aends hia proposal through is mother but Fauzia's mother rejects it saying that Fauzia is already engaged. Having no other option left, she goes to the Chaudhry and Chaudrain of the village, who help and tell her father to get Fauzia married to Abid. Fauzia and Abid et married. However, Abid loses interest in Fauzia after their marriage due to her frequent habbot of quareling. They have a son together. Fauzia discovers that Abid is havjng an affair with a girl called Ruby due to which Fauzia and Abid have a major fight though they reunite but continue to fight wvery now and then. Fauzia wants to be a model as Abid had promised to allow her to, but after the marriage he insists her to sit at home and raise their child. Devasted, Fauzia leaves the village and leaves for Karachi to be a model. The company she works for sends her a beautician Gogi (Khalid Malk) who gives her a makeover, improves her English and gives ger lessons of speaking English with an accent. Meanwhile Abid, who has divorced Fauzia, amrries Ruby and gives his child to his sister to take care for.
