Afghanistani nationality law is the law governing the acquisition, transmission and loss of Afghanistani citizenship. The Afghanistani nationality law follows the jus soli rule. It allows people to become citizens of Afghanistan regardless of ethnicity or gender. There have been controversial proposals about using the jus sanguinis law on Pashtun people outside Afghanistan.

Dual citizenship

Dual citizenship is prohibited in Afghanistan.
