MV Glen Sannox is a dual-fuel car and passenger ferry for Caledonian MacBrayne, currently under construction at Ferguson Marine Engineering in Port Glasgow on the Clyde

History

Glen Sannox is to be the first of two Scottish ferries capable of operating on either marine diesel oil or liquefied natural gas (LNG), with benefits of a marked reduction in carbon dioxide, sulphur and nitrous oxide emissions.[1] Her name was chosen from a short list by public ballot and recalls an earlier Arran ferry.[4]

The steel was cut on 7th April 2016

Glen Sannox was launched on 21 November 2017 by the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.[5]

Service

Glen Sannox was expected to enter service in 2018 on the Ardrossan-Brodick route, replacing MV Isle of Arran and enabling MV Caledonian Isles to operate as the second ferry on the Ardrossan-Brodick and Ardrossan-Campbeltown ferry crossings. It is now expected she will enter service early 2019.
