Kappalur (கப்பலூர்) is a suburban in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) south of district headquarters Madurai, and 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from nearby town Tirumangalam.It is located between Madurai and Thirumangalam. Kappalur has become the next emerging business hub for automotive industries like KUN BMW, Isuzu,Volkswagen, Toyota, Mahindra,Tata,Maruti Suzuki,Mitsubishi,Ashok Leyland,Jeep,Fiat india(FCA). And many independent automobile service centres are there.Cermaic Pro car detailing services,Car accessories shops are present there.

Also the proposed AIIMS hospital site is located nearby.The government has created Utchapatti-Thoppur SATELLITE TOWNSHIP in Kappalur. SIDCO Kappalur has so many polymer,houseware manufacturing units here.No doubt Kappalur is the next hotspot for the industries in Madurai.

And the real estate is picking up very fastly for industrial and residential lands.Now that Thirupurangundram,Thirumangalam and parts of Thanakankulam has come under Madurai Corporation limits.So expect Kappalur and its surrounding areas to be under Corporation limits in next 5 years.
