History
The founding of Home Coffee was the brainchild of business partners Russell Ison, Andrew Chance and Robert Nichol; the three proposed the prospect of opening up their own business, with Ison being a former business manager and secretary, as well as Chance and Nichol whom both were former airline catering and retail management staff themselves.[2]
The three established Home Coffee on 18 December 2014 in Albert Road, Southsea, with the aim of forming a communal and social coffeehouse community in the heart of Portsmouth, with the hopes of expanding the business into more corporate territory in the future, upon receiving steadily well-received reception from regular customers.[3][4] Since the introduction of the company's initial coffee shop in Southsea, Home Coffee have been serving at a larger premises in Cosham since 4 July 2016. The larger outlet has been run collectively by the Chance, Ison and Nichol, between both current coffeehouses served by Home Coffee, along with their staff.
The company have established a tradition of opening on Christmas Day since 2014, doing so again in 2017.[5]
Products
Along with traditional espresso-based drinks, such as espresso, cappuccino, latte and macchiato, all of which can be served with almond, soy and oat milk as an alternative to traditional pasteurised milk, Home Coffee sells various chai teas and mocha-based coffees, along with hot chocolate, iced smoothies, and signature single-origin coffees.
Types of single-origin coffees are named based on their origin, each having a distinctly individual flavour that is dependent on the particular environment (soil richness, growth altitude and temperature) that the coffee beans were grown in, respectively.
Home Coffee also has its own line of gluten-free and vegan-friendly sourdough sandwiches, desserts and specially made soups of the day.[6]
