Club career

Born in A Coruña, Vela began his career with the youth academy of the local Deportivo Coruña club. In 2009, he was promoted to the B team, which competed in the Tercera División. He hade 19 appearances in his first season, which also saw the club being promoted to the Segunda División B. In July 2012, he signed a contract extension, keeping him at the club for another season.[1] Though he is primarily a right winger, he spent much of the 2012–2013 season as a right back.[2]

On 7 July 2013, Vela moved to Segunda División B club Racing Ferrol, after agreeing to a one year deal. He became the team's first signing for the season.[2] On 25th August, he made his debut in a 1–1 draw against Tropezón.[3] On 5th August 2014, he signed a contract extension with the club, penning a deal which would keep him in the Galician club until June of 2016.[4]

After spending three seasons and playing more than 100 matches for Racing Ferrol, Vela went abroad for the first time in 2016 and signed for Hungarian club Diósgyőri.[5]
