Marcus Jernegan

Marcus Wilson Jernegan (1872–1949) was a scholar in the United States.^[1] He was a professor at at the University of Chicago.

He was from Edgartown and graduated as valedictorian of Edgartown High School. He received his Phd from the University of Chicago in 1906. His father was a whaler and his brother, Prescott Jergan, became infamous as the promoter of the fraudulent Jeregan Process for extracting gold from seawater.^[2]^[3]

A collection of his essays was published as a historiography.^{[citation needed]}
