Rocky is a famous male brindle Staffordshire terrier from South Africa. He is the main character in the book, 'Rocky in the Wilderness'. The 'Rocky Adventure Series' contains seven books, the first 'Rocky in the Wilderness'then; Rocky and the San Bushman; Rocky and the Wild Dogs; Rocky and the Origins of Man; Rocky and the Fighting Dogs; Rocky in the Lost City of the Kalahari and, Rocky's African Tales. Rocky is the constant companion of author, Shaun Chapman, who wrote the series based on Rocky's real life bush adventures. The stories are set in Botswana and South Africa and are published by Xlibris in Indiana, USA. The first edition of 'Rocky in the Wilderness was published in South Africa by Rocky Books. Rocky has saved several people in his life. One lady in particular owes her life to Rocky after he dived through a broken window one dark night outside of Johannesburg to tackle two intruders filled with intent of rape and murder. Rocky chased the intruders off the farm and returned with his tail held high and a cocky attitude. Rocky is also the mascot of RAPTOR, an anti-poaching NGO based in South Africa. Most of the conservation educational material produced by RAPTOR uses Rocky's image to teach and educate. The Rocky Conservation Workbook; Rocky's Animal Alphabet and Rocky's Counting Numbers were created to teach environmental principles and conservation morals. Rocky also has a series of posters in which he tackles global warming; deforestation; pollution; poaching and, much of the ills our planet Earth is facing.
