Shaira Lenn Osuna Roberto, popularly known as Sanya Lopez (born on August 9, 1996 in Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines), is a Filipina actress, model and host. She is perhaps best known for her portrayal in the afternoon series, The Half Sisters, where in she played as Lorna.[1] In 2016, Lopez gained media attention and rose to fame after being announced as the new Hara Danaya of the 2016 television remake of GMA Network's Encantadia.[2][3]
Early life and Background
Sanya Lopez was born as Shaira Lenn Osuna Roberto on August 9, 1996 in Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines. She has an older brother named Jak Rommel Osuna Roberto who is also an actor under the screen name as Jak Roberto. Her mother’s name is Marlyn Roberto,[4] and her deceased father is Ramil Roberto. Losing her dad at age of 2, Sanya found a new father figure in Kuya Germs whom she met when she was 14. She dedicates her performance to both Kuya Germs and her real dad.[5] She was given the name Sanya, of Indian origin, by her manager. The Lopez comes from the family name of their Tita Lalaine Lopez, who is the closest to them. She grew up in Bulacan and goes home often to visit her lola. Her mom now stays in Laguna.[6] Lopez currently resides in Tandang Sora, Quezon City with her older brother Jak.[7]
Career
Early Years
Lopez's career started in 2012 when she was accidentally discovered by the late German Moreno on the set of Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman, where in her older brother, Jak Roberto was a mainstay. In an interview, Lopez detailed how fans mistook her for another actress, Kim Rodriguez, who was also on the said show.[8] Since then, Moreno included her on the program as one of his co-hosts.[9]
Acting Career
After which, Lopez was given supporting roles at various afternoon series of GMA Network including Dormitoryo and The Half Sisters, where in she played as Lorna, the best friend of the lead actress, Barbie Forteza. In 2015, Lopez auditioned and acquired the role of Danaya in the television remake of Encantadia, originally by Bubble Gang former cast Diana Zubiri which she considers her biggest television break.[10][11] Zubiri, on the other hand, congratulated Lopez [12] for bagging the role on her Twitter account.[13]
