Blumhouse's Truth or Dare is an upcoming American supernatural horror film directed by Jeff Wadlow and written by Wadlow, Michael Reisz, Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach. It stars Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey, Violett Beane, Nolan Gerard Funk, Hayden Szeto, Sophia Ali, Sam Lerner and Landon Liboiron, and is based upon the eponymous game of the same name. Jason Blum serves as a producer through his Blumhouse Productions banner and Universal Pictures will distributing the film.[1] The film is set to be released in theatres on April 13, 2018.[2]

Plot

A seemingly harmless game of truth or dare turns deadly when someone -- or something -- begins to punish those who tell a lie or refuse a dare.

Production

On March 16, 2017, Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures announced Jeff Wadlow would be directing Truth or Dare and Lucy Hale will be starring in the film.[3][4] On May 24, 2017 it was announced that Tyler Posey, Violett Beane, Nolan Gerard Funk, Hayden Szeto and Sophia Ali would co-star in the film.[5] In July 2017, Aurora Perrineau has enjoined to the film.[8] The next month, Tom Choi was cast in the film.[9] On October 16, 2017, it was announced that Sam Lerner was cast in the film.[6]

Filming

Principal photography on the film began on June 8, 2017.[10][11]

Release

The film was initially going to be released on April 27, 2018, but in January 2018 the release was moved up two weeks to April 13, 2018.[12] The official trailer for the film was released on January 3, 2018.[13]
